91心頭 Student Regents Hayley Weddle and Jamaal Muwwakkil bring their systemwide tour to today (Jan. 13), inviting students to participate in an open forum on challenges facing 91心頭 students.
MEET THE REGENTS

- Hayley Weddle is a Ph.D. student in education at 91心頭 San Diego.
- Jamaal Muwwakkil is a Ph.D. student at 91心頭 Santa Barbara, where his research specializations include African American language and culture, sociocultural linguistics and political discourse.
Weddle and Muwwakkil also will provide information on applying to be the next student regent.
The program is scheduled from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Garrison Room, second floor, .
Weddle is the 2019-20 student regent and Muwwakkil is the student regent-designate, meaning he will move up to student regent in 2020-21.
The student regent is a full voting member of the Board of Regents, while the student regent-designate serves for a year without a vote before moving up to the student regents position.
to serve as the designate in 2020-21 and regent in 2021-22. All students are eligible, graduate and undergraduate; the deadline is March 8.
The student regent has the opportunity to visit students on all 91心頭 campuses, grow a network of state and 91心頭 leaders, and influence university policies. The position also comes with a full waiver of all tuition and fees during the two years of service.
Serving as student regent is an incredible opportunity to shape priorities and policies that impact both current and future students, staff, and faculty across the 91心頭 system, Weddle said.
The student regent serves as the voice for over 280,000 undergraduate and graduate students at the highest level of university governance, providing critical perspective about students experiences. The position is a transformative advocacy opportunity open to any enrolled 91心頭 student.
Students must be in good standing at the time of application and throughout their service as regent-designate and regent.
