Regents OK raises for chancellors

91¿´Æ¬ President Richard Atkinson, the 10 chancellors and other senior 91¿´Æ¬ officials will see their salaries increase from 3.5 percent to 4.3 percent under raises approved last week by the regents.

Atkinson received a 3.5 percent pay increase, from $337,300 to $349,100 per year. Six chancellors, including 91¿´Æ¬ Davis Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef, also received 3.5 percent increases; four others received raises of up to 4.3 percent. The average increase for the chancellors was 3.74 percent.

Unlike the past two years, 91¿´Æ¬ is not providing across-the-board, market-based equity increases for senior administrators this year.

Senior administrators are eligible for basic merit-based salary increases from a 3.5 percent pool, the same funding level as for 91¿´Æ¬ staff employees. In some cases, administrators were given additional increases beyond the basic merit-based increase to promote retention, improve a position’s salary in the higher education market, or correct an internal pay misalignment.
