Public Invited to Hear, Question New 91¿´Æ¬ President at 91¿´Æ¬ Davis

Community members are invited to 91¿´Æ¬ Davis for a public discussion forum with new 91¿´Æ¬ President Robert Dynes on May 27.

Dynes, a first-generation college graduate who went on to become a distinguished physicist and the chancellor of 91¿´Æ¬ San Diego, became president of the 10-campus 91¿´Æ¬ system on Oct. 2, 2003. In his first year in the position, the president plans to visit every campus.

This will be his first visit to the 91¿´Æ¬ Davis campus as president.

Dynes will spend two days touring the Davis campus and the health-system campus in Sacramento. He will talk with 91¿´Æ¬ Davis administrators, faculty members, staff members, students and community leaders. He will lunch with the 91¿´Æ¬ Davis Foundation Board and attend the gala dinner for the recipient of the 91¿´Æ¬ Davis Prize for Undergraduate Teaching and Scholarly Achievement.

The public is invited to the "Dialogue With the President" on Thursday, May 27, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Jackson Hall of the Mondavi Center. For a half hour, representatives of the California Aggie newspaper editorial board will interview Dynes. For the next half hour, audience members will be able to ask him questions.

Those attending the dialogue are invited to stay for music and dance performances by 91¿´Æ¬ Davis students and faculty members. The performance program ends at 3:15 p.m.
