Human Resources has launched an to support a culture of mentoring at 91¿´Æ¬ Davis.
Developed by Human Resources’ Talent Management Center of Expertise, the toolkit is for individuals interested in self-starting a mentoring relationship. Topic areas include “Benefits of Mentoring,†“Types of Mentoring,†“Being a Mentee†and “Being a Mentor,†and “Finding/Choosing a Mentor.â€
The new resource will be an integral part of a broad mentoring initiative due for launch in the coming year.
Staff has expressed a strong interest in mentorship opportunities, according to HR, citing data from engagement surveys, campus climate surveys and HR customer focus groups.
Decision 91¿´Æ¬ Davis for transfer students
Hundreds of newly admitted transfer students are due on campus Friday (May 15) for Decision 91¿´Æ¬ Davis, as the deadline nears for students to declare their intent to register.
The campus held Decision 91¿´Æ¬ Davis last month for thousands of newly admitted freshmen. The transfer event is expected to draw about 800 people, including students, family members and friends.
Decision 91¿´Æ¬ Davis for transfers is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will be in The Pavilion at the ARC.
Global Accessibility Awareness Day
91¿´Æ¬ Davis will observe Global Accessibility Awareness Day next week with presentations, drop-in support and a workshop.
The program, presented by the Electronic Accessibility Committee and the Office of Campus Community Relations, will run from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at the Activities and Recreation Center. Everyone is invited.
According to a flier, the organizers aim “to build awareness and knowledge of digital (Web, software, mobile, etc.) accessibility and users with different disabilities.â€
The flier notes 91¿´Æ¬â€™s commitment to providing electronic materials that are accessible to everyone, and adds: “If you work with students or instructors, maintain a website, or distribute materials, please join us to learn more about electronic accessibility and what you can do to reach everyone.â€
The program includes “Accessibility Awareness†presentations from 10 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Drop-in support is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. “Stop by to get one-on-one help with creating accessible documents, learning about captioning or creating accessible websites.â€
Instructors are invited to a workshop titled “Universal Design for Learning: Reaching Learners with Diverse Needs by Creating Flexible Courses, Activities and Assessments.†The workshop will run from 11:15 to 12:15 p.m.
People planning to attend are asked to register in advance . Pizza will be provided.
