Fire Capt. Davis Stiles, right, and firefighters Nicole Vlahos, center, and Gina Updegraff, were honored Dec. 7 at the American Red Cross Heroes Luncheon on campus. The Red Cross's Yolo County Chapter recognized 20 people, including eight 91¿´Æ¬ Davis employees — veterinarian John Madigan, for his work with area ranchers and their sheep following the Sept. 22 wildfires, and Greg Hoeger, a fire marshal, for giving CPR to a woman in distress at a Berkeley restaurant. Shannon Riggs, Janelle Wierenga and Jennifer Boyle of the 91¿´Æ¬ Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital were honored along with Stiles, Vlahos and Updegraff for performing CPR and saving the life of a man visiting the veterinary hospital in February 2006.
