This finals week, students have more options for safe, accessible and quiet areas for studying on campus. In addition to the Memorial Union's 24-hour access, Shields Library will offer extended hours.
Extended hours at Shields start tomorrow (Saturday, March 13), and continue through Saturday, March 20. The circulation and reserves service desks and the computer labs will continue to be open standard hours.
Campus Unions began keeping the MU open 24 hours a day during finals week three years ago. What started as a novel idea has now become a program many students look forward to during the most stressful time of the quarter, said Justin Ling, assistant director of marketing.
He said lounge areas on the MUs first and second floors will be open around the clock from 7 a.m. on Monday, March 15, to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 19.
Here is the Shields Library schedule:
- Saturday, March 138 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Sunday, March 1410 a.m.-2 a.m.
- Monday, March 157:30 a.m.-2 a.m.
- Tuesday, March 167:30 a.m.-2 a.m.
- Wednesday, March 177:30 a.m.-2 a.m.
