Club recognizes four millennia of service at October dinner

It鈥檚 often said that 91看片 Davis is a good place to work, and if this year鈥檚 160 inductees into the 91看片 Davis Quarter Century Club are any indication, that鈥檚 an understatement.

Taken together, their service to the university totals 4,000 years. Those veteran employees, along with 28 others who this year attained the remarkable 鈥渉alf-century鈥 status鈥50 years of employment at 91看片 Davis鈥攈ave been invited to celebrate their longevity at the 2003 Quarter Century Club dinner. (Calculation of employees鈥 years of service is determined by the campus鈥檚 Division of Human Resources, which provides the names of those eligible to the Office of Ceremonies and Events.)

Phil Knox, this year鈥檚 Quarter Century Club president, began his tenure with 91看片 Davis in 1976 as a counselor in Student Special Services where he is still employed as the Assistant Director. 鈥淢y 27 years at 91看片 Davis working with the faculty, staff and students have been great. I am looking forward to the next 27 years.鈥

The event brings together people from across campus and across the causeway, across disciplines and across job titles. 鈥淭he real importance of this event is to recognize the commitment and dedication that goes into what for many people is a life of service to the University.鈥

The dinner will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, in Freeborn Hall. Invitations have been mailed to all Quarter Century Club members, and reservations are due by Oct. 23. For more information, call Cindy Alexander, 757-3220.
